Fans ready to rock for Opening Ceremony Day

September 11, 2019

The stage is set for tomorrow’s 2019 Solheim Cup Opening Ceremony Day with an action-packed line-up of live music, entertainment and family activities teeing up Scotland’s biggest sporting spectacle of the year.

Headlined by award-winning Scottish pop rock band Texas, the family-friendly festival will culminate with the announcement everyone has been waiting for, when team Captains Catriona Matthew and Juli Inkster reveal the pairings for Friday’s first session at 5.30pm.

Throughout the day, thousands will enjoy thrilling performances from Bjorn Again, Elephant Sessions, Morrison’s Academy Pipe Band, contemporary Highland dancing group Flings & Things and Orcadian folk quartet FARA.

Capturing the inclusive, fun-filled spirit of the Solheim Cup, the Spectator Village offers something for all ages, from immersive golf activities with Ping and Aberdeen Standard Investments, to soft play areas, storytelling and John Deere tractor driving.

There is still a limited number of tickets available to see Texas and all the other live acts for just £25 (concessions £20) and it is free for those aged 16 and under with a paying adult. Reserved seating can be purchased for an extra £10. The official Opening Ceremony will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, hosted by high-profile sports presenter Di Dougherty.
