Shop windows dressed for success to mark Solheim Cup

September 11, 2019

The winners of a shop window dressing competition to celebrate the hosting of the Solheim Cup have been announced.

Perth & Kinross Council and IMG, the event management company, joined forces to encourage businesses based in Perth and Kinross to show their support for the huge golfing event being hosted at Gleneagles from 9th – 15th September.

The competition was judged by professional graphic designers on the Council’s Design Team, who picked the best displays based on creativity, use of materials and visual impact.

The overall winner was Miller Farms at Rosefield, Balbeggie, for its eye-catching potato themed golf display.

The runners-up were The Kilted Barber, Perth; Marions of Perth and The Shoe Shop of Auchterarder.

Provost of Perth and Kinross, Councillor Dennis Melloy said: “Shops and businesses across the area responded with great enthusiasm to the competition. We’ve seen an array of Solheim Cup-themed colourfully dressed shops and businesses with warm welcoming messages to our visitors, to celebrate the area hosting one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events.

“I’d like to offer my warm congratulations to all the winners for their impressive efforts and say a big thank-you to every business who took part.”

The prize, generously donated by IMG, is £250 cash for a team building exercise or celebration event.
